Some vehicles such as VANS and SUV’s may require a camera extension cable in addition to the provided cable(included with system purchase) to reach from the ICU Video Monitor on the rear view mirror to the installed ICU Car Camera location. It’s always a good idea to verify the length you need with a dummy cable before ordering. Available only for the Blackbird, Vulture, Scorpion, Hornet cameras.

For easy installation of the ICU Car Camera System like the Blackbird to a switchable 12V power source from the fuse box to the DC Barrel Jack of the Monitor Power/Aux Cable for our LCD Video Monitors

The ICU Antenna Box allows ICU Car Camera customers to replace their factory Shark Fin Satellite/Radio antennas with the ICU Car Camera, and move the antenna to a new location inside the vehicle mounted to the rear window. 3 sizes to choose from.

Description

The Deluxe Rear View ICU Car Cam System™ is a complete full-time rear view driving camera system that includes one Vulture ICU Car Camera®, choice of backup camera, and our ICU 7″(dia.) LCD Video Monitor. Our patent pending modular system and SoloCam(wide-angle) camera is the best way to see your blind spots while improving driving safety. The Vulture ICU Car Camera® is our lowest profile camera that you mount to the roof of your vehicle just like a satellite radio antenna. If you have a factory installed satellite antenna that is not in use, simply replace it with the ICU Car Camera™. If you have no pre-existing mounting hole on the roof of your vehicle, it will be necessary to drill a new one (professional installation recommended). The ICU Video Monitor clips on to your standard rear view mirror or choose the optional Dash Video Monitor that mounts to a flat surface such as your dashboard or windshield. The ICU Video Monitors can connect to any ICU Car Camera SoloCam and a backup camera. Even at night the ICU Car Camera® has low light sensitivity to give you a nice bright view of traffic, parking lots, the driveway, other objects around you, and especially pedestrians behind your car. If you have tinted windows it can be very difficult to see your surroundings especially driving at night, the ICU Car Camera® is the best solution for that problem. When it rains it can really hinder your vision out of the back window, the ICU Car Camera® gives you a much more clear view of the rear than a standard rear view mirror. The Vulture ICU Car Camera® and backup camera is the perfect match so you can drive safely and see your surrounding at all time. Try it for 30 days on our “Love it or your money back” policy, so you have nothing to lose!

Benefits and Drawbacks

Now the Drone ICU Car Cam System is a nice alternative to the cost of installation for the Blackbird ICU Car Cam System, BUT, there are a few drawbacks:

The additional purchase cost of the Drone compared to the Blackbird is $100
You must leave your factory shark fin antenna in place, which means you would place the Drone off center next to the antenna on the roof, or on the trunk in the center which is a much lower view than the roof
The Drone can be left on the vehicle at all times but if you park outside in a public area it is recommended that you put the Drone inside the vehicle when not in use to reduce the chance of theft
The Drone does require periodic battery charging (approximately once a month for average use), and may require battery replacement after 2-5 years (replacement cost is $50, batteries guaranteed to last at least 1 year)
At times there may be slight video interference with the wireless receiver/transmitter from surrounding elements such as: street electrical transformers, cell towers, and other powerful public electrical equipment

So over all, even though you save a just a little bit of money on installation, the benefits of the Roof mounted Blackbird ICU Car Cam System may out-weigh the slight inconveniences of using the Drone Drone ICU Car Cam System in the long run.
